Combining Feeds
One of the most powerful features of RSS Manager is the ability to combine multiple feeds into one:
- Add at least two RSS feeds as described above
- Click on the "Combine Feeds" button in the "Active Feeds" section
- RSS Manager will merge all the articles from the different feeds
- The articles will be sorted by date (newest first)
- You can now filter the combined feed as usual
Note: To go back to viewing a single feed, click on "Cancel Combination" or select a specific feed from the list.
Exporting and Sharing
Once you have customized a feed, you can export it in two ways:
Download as XML
- Click on the "Download RSS" button in the "Export Modified Feed" section
- The feed will be downloaded as an XML file
Generate a Permanent URL
- Click on the "Generate URL" button
- RSS Manager will create a permanent URL for your customized feed
- Copy this URL and use it in your preferred RSS reader
- This feed will automatically update when the source(s) update
Tip: The permanent URL can be shared with others, allowing them to subscribe to your customized feed.
Managing Favorites
To save time, you can save your favorite RSS feeds:
- Enter the URL of an RSS feed in the input field
- Click on the "Add to Favorites" button
- The feed will be saved in the "Your Favorite Feeds" section
To use a saved feed, click on the download icon next to the feed in the favorites list.
Note: Favorites are stored locally in your browser and will be available the next time you visit RSS Manager.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
Cannot Fetch Feed
Problem: Getting "Could not fetch RSS feed" error when trying to add a feed.
Solutions:
- Check that the URL is correct and points to a valid RSS feed
- Some websites block direct access to their RSS feeds. In such cases, try using a different RSS source
- If the feed is protected by CORS restrictions, RSS Manager will automatically use a proxy to fetch the content
Filters Not Working as Expected
Problem: The filters you've set up don't give the expected results.
Solutions:
- Check that you've selected the correct element to filter on (title, description, etc.)
- For keyword filtering, try using shorter or more general terms
- If you're using advanced filters, check the logic in how the filters are combined (AND/OR)
Permanent URL Not Working
Problem: The generated permanent URL doesn't show the filtered feed.
Solutions:
- Check that the source feed(s) are still available
- Try adding the parameter
?refresh=trueto the URL to force an update - If the problem persists, try generating a new permanent URL
